Diagnostic scenarios

A machine with a hidden fault. Decide what to inspect, measure, isolate and repair; the simulator reveals evidence from the machine’s actual state and scores the path you took to the answer.

Unlike the guided missions, nothing here is scripted. A mission gives you a fixed set of checks with one trap and walks you through the reasoning; a scenario gives you the whole machine, and the same action reads differently depending on what is actually wrong with it.

What it measures are eight troubleshooting patterns — moves chosen because they should carry over to equipment this simulator has not modelled. That is the design intent, not yet a measured result. Learn mode names the ones each machine offers.

How this is scored

Six dimensions: diagnostic accuracy, evidence quality, efficiency, safety, repair quality and verification. Naming the right component is 30 of 100 — the rest is how you got there, whether you worked safely, and whether you proved the repair. Swapping parts until the machine runs scores substantially lower than reasoning to the same answer, by design.
